Contra You, You, and You

At some point, I swear that I’m going to become consistent with my posting, but it may not be until I get a new job…Waaaah X-O

Let’s get it!

Hot Mess #1: Donald Trump’s campaign for being completely oblivious

contra23n-1-web

There’s always a story that brings the widest of smiles to my face. This week, it’s one of two sisters who completely trolled a Trump campaign event.

After being asked by her younger sister to attend Eric Trump’s speech in Salisbury, NC, Annie Cardelle (pictured above) was originally against the idea. Luckily for us, Annie not only decided to attend the event, but also thought of the best way possible to show her lack of enthusiasm for the entire Trump clan.

Taking a black Sharpie, Annie wrote “Latina Contra Trump” on a white t-shirt and posed with her brilliance for the rest of the evening. She and her sister even took a picture with Eric Trump, shirt fully visible.

Honestly, I just think it’s funny that a 23 year-old got away with this. I also find it funny that not one person at the event realized what Annie’s shirt really said. #thebest

Hot Mess #2: Billy Bush for being let go from NBC

tdy_take_billy_160822-today-inline-vid-featured-desktop

Last Monday, Billy Bush was officially fired from NBC for his part in the video featuring Donald Trump speaking poorly about women. Like I said, I have always loved Billy, but even I cannot support such idiotic and disgusting behavior from men.

Now that he will no longer be appearing on the Today Show, Billy has started to pack up his NYC townhouse with plans to return to LA…

You know, I would say, “Poor Billy” except for the fact that he’s the first cousin of Dubya. The entire Bush clan is rich, and well, I just can’t feel THAT bad for the wealthy…#Sorry. Not to mention, everyone in LA is a hot mess and will eventually “forgive” Billy once this Trump craziness dies down. He’ll have another job on a different network in the next couple of years.

p.s. I’m also hearing that Billy settled his contract with NBC for $6-10 million. Talk about a serious punishment…

Hot Mess #3: Amy Schumer for just being a mess

Screen-Shot-2016-10-21-at-3.17.55-PM-1477077564-640x346.png

Like I always say, there’s always one.

On Friday, actress and comedian Amy Schumer decided to release her parody of Beyonce’s Formation. Formation was the lead single off of Bey’s critically acclaimed album Lemonade, which celebrates all things Black.

Although Amy’s music video was meant to be funny, there was absolutely nothing funny about it. Matter of fact, the entire video left me very much confused. From the dirty clothes being worn by Schumer and Goldie Hawn to the Native American extras, I, in the words of Vivica A. Fox, just didn’t get it…

Without question, this was one parody that fell completely flat. Try again, Amy.  Try again.

p.s. Can the younger generation please leave the legends out of their mess? Goldie Hawn is too much of a Hollywood treasure to be in this trash. Sigh.

Hot Mess #4: Bow Wow and Soulja Boy for joining forces

161023-soulja-boy-bow-wow-ig-800x600

Switching complete gears, let’s talk about the recent announcement that Bow Wow and Soulja Boy will be releasing a joint album titled “Ignorant Sh*t.”

14659252_204711723290189_5946096786375442432_n

Not too long ago, Bow Wow claimed that he was retiring from music. I guess that was a complete lie seeing as though this Soulja Boy collaboration is scheduled to drop tomorrow.

Honestly, I don’t know what to think about this. The album already sounds a mess and it hasn’t even been released. For now, I’ll just try not to hate on anyone’s hustle.

Anyways, does anyone else remember this Bow Wow, Soulja Boy classic? —> Marco Polo

O-M-G, the best…lol

All Eyes On U.S.

Welp, it’s another Monday evening, and that means it’s time to post.

Let’s get it!

Hot Mess #1: Donald Trump for just being Donald Trump

donald-trump

Last week, a video from 2005 was leaked of Mr. Trump and NBC’s Billy Bush having a conversation about women on the set of a soap opera. Even though the men are off camera for the majority of the video, they can clearly be heard exchanging crass comments about women. Trump even goes on to mention how he hit on one woman (now identified as Entertainment Tonight‘s Nancy O’Dell) before being rejected saying, “I did try and f— her. She was married.”

Leaked Donald Trump video

Unfortunately, this Trump comment was not the worst in a series of unforgiveables. Throughout the conversation, Trump goes on to claim that being a celebrity has allowed him to have his way with women and that he can grab them “by the p—y.” #Gross

Honestly, we all knew that Trump was a dirty dog. During his entire campaign, he has made one offensive comment after another, so why should anyone be surprised?

Hot Mess #2: Billy Bush for just being a mess

billybush-news.jpg

When I was younger, I watched NBC’s Access Hollywood religiously. The show not only allowed me to get all of my celeb news/gossip for the week, but it also helped me to realize my passion for everything entertainment.

I was so impressed by Nancy O’Dell and Billy Bush’s chemistry as co-hosts, and wanted to be just like them (I sound like a child lol)….Anyways, having Billy Bush be a part of this hot mess story surrounding Donald Trump is MOST disappointing.

Do better, Billy.

p.s. Maybe I could forgive Billy if he hadn’t also defended Ryan Lochte’s behavior in Brazil not that long ago. Now, I’m questioning his judgment and character as a person… We’ll see what decision NBC makes on whether or not to end his contract. Right now, it’s not looking too good for the veteran anchor.

FUN FACT: Billy Bush is the first cousin of President George W. Bush. See the resemblance?

Apparently, Billy didn’t publicize this relation  in favor of his growing television career. Too bad distancing himself from the Bush family still didn’t keep him from being an ass. #sideeye

Hot Mess #3: Kaleigh McEnany for being annoying

mcenany-headshot-final

Yesterday, in an attempt to take the focus off of the leaked video mentioned above, Donald Trump held a press conference featuring former President Bill Clinton’s rape accusers. Most informed journalists saw both the conference and its timing (just before the second presidential debate) as a way for Trump to put someone else in hot water besides himself.

Actually, most people seemed to understand what Trump was doing other than Kaleigh. Like a chihuahua, Kaleigh would not shut up at the pre-debate panel about how the press conference was not a “stunt” and how Clinton’s accusers should be heard.

tumblr_nj6c9dRduy1qk08n1o1_500.gif

No matter how much Kaleigh’s fellow CNN panelists tried to explain that Trump’s act was disingenuous, the poor blonde just couldn’t comprehend.

Personally, I didn’t think there was anyone worse than Fox’s Tomi Lahren, but I guess I was wrong…

Side note: The topics of sexual assault and rape are very important and Clinton’s accusers have every right to tell their stories. However, it’s probably best if it’s treated more like a very serious conversation and less like a sideshow at a circus.

Hot Mess #4: The presidential debate for making everyone uncomfortable

142777-eight

If you did not watch the debate last night, you probably did yourself a HUGE favor.

anderson-cooper-martha-raddatz-presidential-debate-moderators.png

CNN’s Anderson Cooper and ABC’s Martha Raddatz served as moderators and were relentless in their questions for Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton. From discussing Trump’s  disturbing comments about women to Mrs. Clinton’s email scandal, the room felt uncomfortable even through the TV for the first 45 minutes. Not to mention, Bill Clinton was also in the audience and behind him were his rape accusers…Yikes.

The Debate Moderators Went In Hard And People Loved It

To be honest, the whole thing was #teamtoomuch.

Sometimes, I just don’t even have the capacity to accept that this messiness is what our presidential election has turned into. Everyone is a liar or a fraud or a cheater, and I just can’t handle.

Anyways, I know the world has its eyes on us, and our country is just the epitome of a hot mess.

Sigh…

Scandalous Meets Stupid

As painful as Mondays are, I always love sitting down with a bowl of cereal and blogging. Can we say sanity check?

Let’s get it!

Hot Mess #1: Nate Parker and his rape scandal

image

Okay, so I actually have all the feels when it comes to this latest story about Nate Parker. In case you missed it, Parker was in the news a few months ago for his film, The Birth of a Nation, which tells the story of rebel slave, Nat Turner. After Sundance, The Birth of a Nation was purchased by Fox Searchlight for a whopping $17.5 million, putting Parker on the road to Hollywood A-lister.

It wasn’t until recently that news of Parker’s troubled past came to light. Back in 1999, Parker was accused of raping a female student while studying at Penn State. His alleged victim then went on to commit suicide in 2012.

As a woman, I couldn’t be more disgusted by the idea of any man getting away with rape. As a Black American, however, I question the timing of this story being published in outlets such as Variety. The Birth of a Nation was set to perform incredibly well come October, and now its fate is somewhat up in the air as people debate whether or not to support Parker and his film.

Look, I’m not saying that we should not discuss Parker’s past. I am saying, however, that I hope that people will understand that The Birth of a Nation is much bigger than its individual contributors. Hollywood has not always been the biggest supporter of Black narratives, especially narratives that don’t include a “white savior” and include a Black uprising. If The Birth of a Nation performs well at the box office this fall, then it will only help to show film executives that there is a true market for this type of storytelling.

Anyways, I could go on forever about this topic and probably write an entire essay about my feelings on both Parker and the movie. For now, I’m going to switch gears and show some love for another Black film that has no controversies surrounding it.

Hidden Figures, a movie about Katherine Johnson, an African American physicist who made significant contributions to NASA, stars Taraji P. Henson, Janelle Monae, and Octavia Spencer, and already looks A-mazing. 🙂

Hot Mess #2: Ryan Lochte for just being a mess

636058407277017878-USP-OLYMPICS-USA-SWIMMING-PRESS-CONFERENCE-83765002

Ryan Lochte has never struck me as the brightest star in the sky, potentially not even shining at all…

Last week, the media reported that Lochte and a small group of American Olympic swimmers were robbed at gunpoint at a Rio gas station. When interviewed, Lochte claimed that the robbers pulled out guns and even placed one to his forehead.

Long story short, all of the details from the “robbery” turned out to be one giant lie. Video footage shows Lochte and crew vandalizing private property and getting into a fight.

U.S. Swimmers Incident In Rio

Needless to say, Lochte and the others are now paying for their poor judgment. Sponsors including Speedo and Ralph Lauren have dropped him. #AMess

Hot Mess #3: Gabby Douglas and her haters

514350478-gymnast-gabby-douglas-poses-for-a-portrait-at-the-2016

U.S. gymnast and Olympic champion, Gabby Douglas, just can’t seem to catch a break. From her bad hair days to her “attitude” during the Rio Olympics, Gabby has given her random social media haters one thing to comment on after another.

Now, I’m not going to lie. When I was watching Gabby watch her teammates, Simone Biles and Aly Raisman, compete in the individual all-round for gymnastics, I thought her attitude was trash. At one point, all the girls in the stands were clearly cheering for their U.S. teammates, while Gabby sat with a sour face.

gabby-douglas

Yup….

Even though I’m not really here for Gabby’s attitude, I’m also not supportive of the major hate she’s received her entire career. I mean, come on. If Ryan Lochte can be a complete idiot and be defended by NBC reporters, then Gabby Douglas can be left alone.

Hot Mess #4: Donald Trump for playing the white savior

donald-trump-7be70449-3996-4e8a-bea7-f231fc38fc0f.jpg

In the latest of hot mess events, Donald Trump attempted to gain Black supporters.

Trump to African Americans

The Republican nominee stated that the Democratic Party has failed African American communities and that Blacks have nothing to lose by voting for him…

I’ve already mentioned how important it is for us to get rid of the white savior storyline, so you already know how I feel.
