Shut Up and Sit Down

Another week, another Monday of messes. Let’s get it!

Hot mess #1: Azealia Banks for just being a complete mess.

azealia62433.jpg

I know not everyone is familiar with Azealia Banks, so let me break her down for you. Banks is a “rapper, singer-songwriter,” who finds more time attacking celebrities on Twitter (she’s now banned) than perfecting her craft. Although Banks is talented, her repeated antics on social media make her a laughingstock in entertainment.

In response to an anti-Trump post by Rihanna over the weekend, Banks told Rihanna and other celebrities to “shut up and sit down.”

rihanna-azealia-banks.jpg

Why Azealia thought she could come for Rihanna is beyond me. Not only can Rihanna serve up one shady clap-back, but she can also just win an argument simply for just being Rihanna…

Unfortunately, it looks like this story will need a couple more days to play out in the press. Let’s just hope that Azealia’s behavior doesn’t result in another social media ban.

Hot Mess #2: Donald Trump for creating more global chaos.

nbc-fires-donald-trump-after-he-calls-mexicans-rapists-and-drug-runners.jpg

After the Women’s March in D.C., I hoped that the voices of the people would be heard. Boy, was I wrong…

Last week, Trump passed another executive order (I’m starting to lose count of executive orders…) that prevents citizens from several Muslim countries from entering the U.S. for 90 days. The ban also prevents refugees from entering for 120 days.

Although Trump claims that the ban is not targeting Muslims, people can’t help but to notice the faith of the population that it affects most.

Now, I’m all for protecting the American people and making sure that we have quality immigration laws. However, I’m also for protecting American ideals and embracing people of all colors, cultures, and religions. Not to mention, I also want a president who does not base decisions off of his own personal business interests…

p.s. One would think that Trump would be tired of people protesting. Like, isn’t it getting too loud for him?!

Sigh…

Hot Mess #3: Anyone who roots against Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

prince-harry-727402.jpg

For months now, the public has gotten used to the idea of Prince Harry and Suits actress, Meghan Markle. Although the pair seem to be perfect for each other on paper, there are a number of people who are against a future marriage due to Markle’s background. Markle is mixed race (half white, half Black) from Los Angeles with some pretty controversial family members.

Although I can understand the snobby attitudes against Markle (history is history), I cannot support them. It’s 2017 and we should just let people be happy.

Therefore, in the words of Azealia, people can definitely shut up and sit down when it comes to this couple.

p.s. If there’s another charming prince out there looking for his wife, please come find me. I hate cooking and most cleaning, so I would be great with house staff. 🙂

Hot Mess #4: Winona Ryder for looking cray on stage.

I have been a fan of Winona Ryder since 1994’s Little Women when she played the lovable Jo. And, despite a rough patch in the early 2000s, Winona has steadily worked to regain her career. Now, she’s part of the hit Netflix show Stranger Things.

Although Winona has done a lot of things right this past year, her facial expressions at last night’s SAG Awards were just all wrong….

While the cast of Stranger Things took home the award for best ensemble cast, Winona made some pretty crazy faces on stage, which immediately began trending on social media.

To be fair, this is how I feel every day now while watching the news….

I get you, Winona. I get you. lol

Side note: Shout out to all of the SAG winners last night, especially Denzel Washington and the cast of Hidden Figures, who surprised even themselves with their wins.

Can’t wait for the Oscars!

He Bathes In Cheeto Dust

Needless to say, last week was very eventful. From the U.S. presidential inauguration to the Women’s March, there was never a dull moment.

Let’s get it!

Hot Mess #1: Donald Trump’s team for all of their “alternative facts.”

donald-trump.jpg

First of all, I would just like to say that I really am not a Trump basher. Although I’m not looking forward to watching him and his long ties over the next four years, I understand that he is our president and will show him the utmost respect when he deserves it. Fortunately for me, he hasn’t deserved it yet… x-O

We all know that Trump is a mess, but it’s the messiness of his team that is truly astounding. Since Trump’s inauguration, his minions (i.e. Sean Spicer and Kellyanne Conway) have been spewing some of their worst lies to the American public and rebranding them as “alternative facts.”

Press Secretary Sean Spicer: ‘Our Intention is Never to Lie to You’

I won’t go much further into detail than the article above. It’s just frustrating that Trump’s team has made a deliberate effort to treat the public like idiots….

Spicer, next time you want to lie about how many (a.k.a. how few) people attended the presidential inauguration, try not to have photo evidence of your false claims dominating social media…

Hot Mess #2: The U.S. for electing a man who triggered a world-wide demonstration

ct-womens-march-national-pg-20170121.jpg

If you weren’t watching Trump’s inauguration on Friday, then you were probably gearing up for the Women’s March on Saturday.

In response to Trump’s dangerous rhetoric about women and other minority groups, millions united around the world to form one of the largest protests in history.

Pictures From Women’s Marches on Every Continent

I’m not a political expert or anything, but it would appear that a country that sparks this much global mobilization is a HOT mess.

BTWs, if you haven’t watched Ashley Judd’s performance of “Nasty Woman”  from the march, then you absolutely HAVE to. I have never been more entertained in my entire life. She gave me all the feels, all the snaps, and all the comedy.

Out of all of this, I’m glad that at least Cheetos are getting some much deserved publicity.

And with that, I’m going to end today’s post. There’s only so much orange I can take…

We All Wanna Be Bad And Boujee

I know it’s been a few weeks, but I had to battle my PTSD from 2016 before being ready to start posting again. Now, I’m back and ready to take on 2017 full force in my Star Wars onesie (no pun intended). Let’s get it!

Hot Mess #1: Donald Trump for being a child

baby_trump.jpg

Last night, many of our favorite celebrities gathered at the 74th Golden Globe Awards, giving all of us plenty to talk about.

Out of all of the celebrities, Meryl Streep gave the most memorable speech as she accepted the honorary Cecil B. DeMille Award for her long career in Hollywood. In her speech, Streep ripped Donald Trump to shreds without ever mentioning his name, a move only a GOAT could make.

Read –> Meryl Streep’s Golden Globes Speech

In response to Streep, Trump went straight to Twitter, calling the icon “over-rated.”

tumblr_mnix9ufpbd1qm0y0ho1_500

The funny part about this story is not so much Trump’s behavior, but the fact that we all were waiting for his tweet after Streep’s speech. Like how predictable can one idiot be?

As much as I want to be upset that our next president uses Twitter for temper tantrums, I just can’t continue to be that mad. At the end of the day, Americans chose to put the child in office…

Hot Mess #2: Any American who voted for Trump while on Obamacare

obamacare_protester-620x412

Look, I’ve said this before. I don’t really want this blog to turn too political, so I’m going to keep this one short and sweet.

This week, the hottest debate in Washington is whether or not to repeal the Affordable Care Act (a.k.a. Obamacare). As the reality of a potential repeal approaches, many Americans who rely on Obamacare are growing fearful. Funny enough, a large number of these Americans were the same ones to elect Trump into office (because that made sense…).

When you find out the ACA and Obamacare are the same thing…

Leonardo-DiCaprio-OMG.gif

It will be interesting to see how everything plays out over the next few weeks/four years. For now, I’m just going to sit here with my popcorn and hope the world doesn’t blow up…

How the tables are turning on Obamacare

Hot Mess #3: Whoever gave Jenna Bush Hager a super hard time for “Hidden Fences”

afp-jp8ly

Okay, let’s rewind and take it back to last night’s Golden Globes.

On the Globes red carpet, Jenna interviewed Pharrell Williams, opening with “So you’re nominated for Hidden Fences.” Unfortunately for Jenna, there is no such thing as Hidden Fences. There are, however, two Black films currently out in theaters. One is Hidden Figures and the other is Fences.

Personally, I think the gaffe was hilarious. I mean, come on. Figures. Fences. Feelings. There are a lot of Fs at work here, so it’s completely understandable how such a mistake could happen. And, I don’t think it was necessary to crucify Jenna Bush for her error on Twitter just because she’s white (Let’s be honest. This is why this is news.)

Anyways, Jenna gave a heartfelt apology on the Today Show this morning. Poor thing. At least all the Hollywood Blacks showed her plenty of love to make her feel better.

Pharrell Williams Says Everyone Makes Mistakes

All we need is love, love. Love is all we need.

p.s. A part of me wonders if Jenna Bush was forced to apologize since her cousin, Billy, was kicked off air for insensitive remarks last year….Hmmm…Hmmm…Either way, I like Jenna and think the apology was genuine.

Hot Mess #4: Anyone who dragged Donald Glover for his acceptance speech

donald-glover-inline-d8e1f61d-b9d6-4902-aa66-1b8d5db45987

One standout moment during the Golden Globes was when Donald Glover’s Atlanta won for Best TV Series, Comedy or Musical. The win was completely unexpected along with Glover’s thank yous…

Yup, at the very end of his speech, Glover chose to thank the rap group Migos for making the hit song “Bad and Boujee.”

migos-2013-billboard-650x430.jpg

Needless to say, there were a number of uptight individuals who thought that Glover should have been “better” prepared and should have touched on the significance of his win (a.k.a. been more emotional and commented on the fact that he’s Black and winning a major award like Viola Davis).

Maybe this is an unpopular opinion, but here’s my take….

How about we all just let Donald Glover and every other artist/person live. Although I think it’s important to acknowledge the achievements of people of color in Hollywood, I also think it’s important to let people express themselves. If Donald Glover thinks it’s an appropriate moment to shout out Migos, then well, let him have his moment. Not to mention, shouting out Migos seems almost perfect given the subject matter of Atlanta.

Aaaaaand, on a completely different note, let’s talk about Brad Pitt….

This man walked into the Golden Globes last night, surprised everyone, looked like his old hot self and killed his 1 minute presentation of Moonlight, a movie he quietly helped to produce and that would ultimately take home Best Drama Motion Picture.

Now, that’s how you handle a terribly public divorce. Get it, Brad!

I’m sure Angie is rooting for you too deep down inside….
